When Life Gets Overwhelming

When life gets to be just a little bit too much and you feel like everything is coming crumbling down. Remember every storm subsides and the sun always shines again. I know right now you feel like there’s no end to the darkness… I’ve been there. When I get to these stages in life I try to remember the last time I felt this way. I try to remind myself that in the end, last time, everything turned out okay.

In times like these do not hesitate to lean on those around you. Friends, family, a journal, a therapist. Don’t feel weak for needing help. You are your strongest when you see the truth and seek what you need fearlessly.

Know that everything is going to be fine. Also know that it’s completely okay to not see the light at the end of the tunnel right now; we have feelings and that’s perfectly acceptable. Don’t let anyone tell you any different.

Some things that have helped me that could also help you are to pour out your feelings in a letter to yourself. Write down five things that are overwhelming you right now and write down five things that you can handle right now.

Cry, if you need to. It’s a wonderful release.

Watch a movie that you know will make you laugh. Laughter sometimes is the best medicine!

And most importantly, you are not alone.

  1. Great post. I have dealt with anxiety and depression for years. It can be very difficult at times and those who have never been through it do not understand. I see a therapist regularly which is a big help. One big help for me recently was changing jobs.
